Location. The sun's rays pierce Arizona's endless blue skies at Esplendor Resort at Rio Rico, a golf property located 51 miles south of Tucson and 13 miles north of Nogales, Mexico. The historic trails and abandoned ruins of three ancient Spanish colonial missions stand as a reminder of times past at Tumacacori National Historical Park, positioned nine miles from the hotel. Bordering Saguaro National Park, the hotel is 60 miles from Arizona Sonoran Desert Museum that offers an amazing display of botanical and animal life protected within their natural settings.
Hotel Features. A premier golf destination, this picturesque Southwestern resort presents the par 72 Robert Trent Jones Sr. course, complete with a PGA certified instructor. The resort's tennis center promotes four lighted, hard courts that overlook sweeping Santa Cruz Valley vistas. Sonoran splendors may best be experienced on horseback, where exhilarating dinner or saloon to saloon rides may be organized by hotel staff. Themed events, banquets and corporate conventions are accommodated via the property's ample conference and meeting space. Dining options include San Cayetano Dining Room, where inventive Mexican and Continental cuisine is served, while Calabasas Bar & Grill satisfies guests with daily drink specials and late night menus.
Guestrooms. Pine furnishings accented with native design warm the resort's hacienda style guestrooms. The rooms feature private patios or balconies that overlook panoramic mountain and valley views. High speed Internet access is available in all 108 accommodations, and coffeemakers, refrigerators and comfortable sitting areas provide many comforts of home.
Expert Tip. The resort's Executive Chef conducts day trips into Mexico where he introduces guests to the authentic culture and culinary history of this region. It is from his extensive experience in these more remote Mexican locales that he draws inspiration for his creative San Cayetano Dining Room dishes.
